Świrski published a statement. "Out of respect for the state"

On Monday, July 28, members of the National Broadcasting Council dismissed its chairman , Maciej Świrski, by a statutory majority of four votes. They emphasized in a statement that they made the decision "out of concern for the reliable fulfillment of the KRRiT's constitutional obligations, which are threatened by the actions of the ruling coalition in the Sejm." Agnieszka Glapiak was elected as the new chairman, with Hanna Karp as her deputy.

Świrski issued a statement in which he emphasized that "the session has no legal basis, as only the chairman can convene it and resume it after a break." He cited the Constitutional Tribunal's ruling that the Act on the State Tribunal is unconstitutional, meaning that the Sejm's vote on bringing him before the State Tribunal has no legal consequences. Świrski noted that this has been confirmed by the Constitutional Tribunal.

Świrski added that "inviting him to an improperly convened meeting is an attempt to legitimize actions that are inconsistent with the regulations." He continued that "the majority of the council's support for recognizing the unlawful actions of the Sejm and recognizing the vote on his impeachment before the State Tribunal as binding is a recognition of the unlawful actions of the ruling coalition in the form of non-recognition of the Constitutional Tribunal and other unlawful actions of the Tusk government and the remaining parliamentary majority."

"It could also be said that the majority of the National Council's decision to bring me before the Constitutional Tribunal violates the Constitution, as the Constitutional Tribunal's decisions are final and unappealable. As a state oversight body, the National Broadcasting Council is obligated to respect and apply the law, and therefore also to recognize the Constitutional Tribunal's rulings," Świrski concluded.

New statement by the former chairman of the National Broadcasting Council

On Tuesday, Świrski issued a new statement. "Out of respect for the Polish state and the gravity of the moment, I have decided not to take any action to reverse yesterday's – in my opinion legally flawed – dismissal of me from the position of Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council. In the face of the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Poland, I do not want to give the government a pretext to generate chaos and downgrade public offices," he wrote.
